OSHA recommends Outreach Training Programs as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Construction workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on specific hazards of the job. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach DOL course completion card within 2 weeks. The 30-hour Construction Safety and Health Program is intended to provide workers with some safety responsibility a greater depth and variety of training on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards in general industry. The Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. The American Safety Council, in partnership with the University of South Florida, provides two online OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Outreach 30-hour training courses that help employers satisfy requirements for OSHA-authorized training. These construction and general industry courses educate supervisors and workers with safety responsibility on enforcing workplace safety and reducing jobsite hazards. OSHA 30-hour courses offer greater depth and types of training on a broader list of topics than the 10-hour course. The training provides greater depth on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards for construction safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter at a construction site, as opposed to the 30 Hour OSHA Construction Safety course that is for workers without supervisory responsibility. The training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards. Employers who have trained their workers with the OSHA Outreach Program for Construction have seen reductions of up to 66% in lost-time injuries. Through this training, OSHA helps to ensure that workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and contribute to our nation’s productivity. This 30 Hour Course for the Construction Industry is authorized by OSHA and the OSHA outreach training program. Completion will provide you with an official OSHA 30 hour card approved by the Department of Labor. Important safety topics that will be covered in this OSHA training include:
• Jobsite Hazard Recognition and Avoidance
• OSHA Standards and Inspection Procedures
• Safety Programs
• Fall Protection
• Stairways and Ladders
• Scaffolds
• Fire Prevention
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Tools – Hand and Power
• Confined Space Entry
• Health Hazards in Construction
